We don’t know which is the scarier, the Jillian Michaels that gets right up in your face and screams until her eyes pop, or the super sympathetic Jillian who tries to winkle out all the psychological reasons that you let yourself get into your presently disgusting state of fattitude. Both of them scare the crap out of us! But you can’t deny that Jillian’s methods work and work very well.
Not just on The Biggest Loser either. Both Jillian and Bob Harper ( her co-presenter on TBL), have a wide range of diet and exercise books and videos on the market. We have one of Bob’s exercise CD’s and boy, can that man make you sweat!
Making the Cut by Jillian Michaels
| This is a 30 Day Diet and Fitness Plan regime which promises to build ‘… the strongest and sexiest you’. Well we liked the sound of that so let’s take a peek at what is inside: In the introduction it explains that this book is specifically for those who… |
- are looking to shed those last stubborn and clingy pounds of fat. You know the ones that just won’t leave, sort of like your mother-in-law last Christmas.
- for those who have a special event coming up and you want to get ripped.
- or for those who want to unleash their badass (ooh, thats me!)
Jillian promises to make you feel comfortable running in a bikini! (If you feel comfortable running in a mankini there is something seriously wrong with you but in any case Jillian makes you no promises). Imagine that. This miraculous transformation will take place over 30 days and the plan is based on whether you are a fast oxidiser, a slow oxidiser or a balanced oxidiser. Apparently slow oxidisers need more carbs while fast oxidisers need more protein.
Based on these three body types there are three separate shopping lists and 3 different 30 day meal plans. The recipes are cleverly worked out to be extremely flexible and time saving for working moms and there are over 100 exercises most of which make use of one’s own body weight rather than fancy gym equipment. The exercise plan gets progressively more intense throughout the period. Follow the plan and don’t try to accomplish week 4 exercises on week one or you may make a pretzel of yourself.
Jillian gives a lot of information from diet, exercise, supplements to sleeping and if you follow her instructions in this book, you will lose weight and you will feel fab. Reviews from users are overwhelmingly positive and of those who do have a complaint to make several admit that the book was not for them because … ‘I’m not that dedicated’, or ‘I do not recommend it because it’s a HUGE time committment!’.
So, before you buy this book make sure you are ready for one month of concentrated effort. If not … don’t bother buying the book. Lifting it up and down from the bookshelf ain’t gonna tone those abs. But if you are then the rewards will be great. You may be skipping up and down the beach in your skivvies before you know it … so go for it.
